HALO-TEX was founded to address the urgent need for sustainable and circular solutions in the textile and biochemical industries, which face major environmental and socioeconomic issues. Modern textile production uses synthetic fibres and imported wool and cotton, which require a lot of water, land, and chemicals. These sectors also pollute, cause climate change, and deplete resources.
HALO-TEX is leading a circular, bio-based manufacturing model to convert halophytes, salt-loving plants that can be grown on low-quality and marginal land unsuitable for crops, into recyclable textiles, bio-based composites, functional additives, and high-value biochemicals. This releases freshwater and agricultural land and encourages the industry to move away from traditional agricultural fibres to create green industrial growth opportunities.
