ECOFUNC project develops circular and recyclable PHA-based building panels produced from CO2, to replace traditional materials in facades, false ceilings, interior walls, and tiles, reducing emissions and lifecycle costs.
Project Mission
- Create high-performance bio-based panels integrating PHAs, natural fibers, and bio-based flame retardants, with climate footprint targets of <0.5 kg CO2-eq/m² and up to a 20% reduction in LCC costs.
- Enabling circular EU supply chains with chemical and mechanical recycling of PHAs and reuse in furniture and automotive applications to maximize circularity.
- Demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of PHA panels in real-world use cases and accelerate the adoption of bio-based materials in the construction sector.
