MATRIX: The European Circular Fashion Project kicks off with its November 2025 Kick-Off Meeting.

Next Technology Tecnotessile is a partner in the new European MATRIX project, which will officially begin with the kick-off meeting scheduled for November 26 and 27, 2025, at the Igualada Fashion Lab in Spain. This event, which will feature Enrico Venturini and Virginia Burgassi, will present the project’s vision, structure, and operational activities.

The MATRIX Project’s Main Objectives

The MATRIX project, funded by the European Union through the Interreg Next MED program, aims to revolutionise the fashion design sector in the Mediterranean by leading the transition to circular and sustainable production models. At the heart of the initiative will be the Circular Fashion Design Toolbox, a package of practical tools dedicated to three key areas: water and energy management, materials, and digitalisation. This toolbox will be integrated into a training programme for 200 SMEs and industry stakeholders, enabling them to adopt innovative methods of circular design and production. Additionally, 90 companies will directly test the developed tools, and 40 will participate in matchmaking events with sustainable solution providers.

MATRIX will foster cross-border collaboration through study visits, peer-review missions between Spain and Tunisia, and a matchmaking event in Turkey. These activities will contribute to the creation of the Mediterranean Pact for Circular Fashion, a regional alliance designed to support long-term cooperation and policy alignment in the Mediterranean.

Kickoff Meeting Structure and Program

The kickoff meeting will consist of two days dedicated to coordinating partners and defining the next project steps:

The first day (November 26) will be dedicated to institutional greetings and presentation sessions for partners from Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, and Turkey, as well as open discussions and a visit to the city of Igualada.
The second day (November 27) will focus on four operational areas: Knowledge, Pilots, Community Connection, and Project Management, with the next shared steps being defined.
